Audra & Tyra "on the lake"
This may be one of my favorite pictures from the whole summer (courtesy of Auntie Jann in the boat!). It says it all... All of us jumping into the lake on a warm MN summer day. Knowing there is most likely grilled hamburgers and corn on the cob waiting to be eaten and a bonfire to boot!!
Audra officially knee-boarded this summer and loved it! She actually is very much a "No-fear" like her dad. Much more than me!

back to school last year (3rd & 1st).... this is ....
TODAY!!! BACK TO SCHOOL 2010 (4th & 2nd grade)
...the first time you get to bail hay. This summer there had been so much rain everything was lush green. The Des Moines river was overflowing it's banks into my dad's corn crop and it made for some interesting drives down by the river in the mule. My kids never give up a chance to sit a top a tractor to be part of this annual ritual of cutting hay. It screams summer and delight to these kids.
I can visualize this in the future.....only they're 6 ft tall and throwing the bails with their cousins Oskar and Otto!
Does this look dangerous? Oddly when you go home to the farm you put kids in positions you later wonder?? is that safe?? Surely it is!!!!!!!!!!
No one can compete with such sheer determination as this child. This is his approach to life... "I'm going to jump....catch me if you want?"

Waiting for the lake front to open. Kids wait with patience otherwise unseen when they know what they want. They waited until the lifeguard came...the lightening & thunder had adequately passed to go into this peaceful lake!

Graduates from HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!!! Gunnar's birthday was followed up by the much anticipated and prepared for.....GRADUATION of JOEY!!!!! Jill (and sister Jann) worked so hard to prepare and put on a beautiful party celebrating Joey's school career which leads him this Fall to Bethel. YES....Bethel folks.....where his grandparents went, his aunts and uncles and his mom! We are proud of you Joey!
