Turning 6...(a week or so early?!)
Dollar Store pool noodles turned into Light Sabors (?) with the help of a wooden dowel from Home Depot!
Jedi Anders and Jedi Gunnar (these two precious boys don't really know too much about the real Stars Wars). All of Gunnar's information about this life in the Galaxy has been gleaned during recess with his friends in Kindergarten. Despite NEVER seeing the movie or cartoon he knows the entire character list of the Clone Wars.....including their color light sabor and who they become later. He told me the other day "I'm actually an expert at Star Wars mom". I said quickly, under my breath, there's a lot of things I wish you were an expert it kid, but that's not one of them....
When I put every girls' hair (including mine, Amanda and Colette's) in side buns.....I stumped him. He wasn't making the Princess Leah connection! But we enjoyed it!

Audra Colette Carlson will now be playing..... "The Magic Pony" she will follow this frolicking number by a more subdued piece..... "The Spanish Guitar".

The Hill Country

Last weekend I got to spend a couple nights away in Round Top, TX. A tiny town on the way to the beautiful Hill Country. Colette and I went with two of our friends from church and had some time away from kids (well almost all kids....as you can see one came!)

We had a beautiful weekend EXCEPT.....I came home with chiggers (from the tall grass)!! If you've never been lucky enough to have chiggers ....try not to! I have over 100 bites that itch like the dickens and most of them happen to be ......well.....let's just say they like your undies! UGH!

Old Friends...

Our old friend Danah Martin surprised her mother for Mother's Day and in the process we got a "spontaneous" visit and we loved it!!!!!

Happy Memorial Day!

WE had good friends over for backyard fun on this HOT Memorial Day here in Houston....


Popsicles and some "make believe" with the other kids. I came out to the play room and said "what are you all playing?" Olivia and Audra answer... "SNOW WHITE". "Audra is the stepmother, I'm Snow White (says Olivia), Dylan is Prince Charming..." I look over and see Anders sitting in a dump truck eating his popsicle and I say... "who's Anders" they all three answer in unison.... "HE's a dwarf!!"
Sprinklers and a makeshift slip and slide with the real slide and some water! (that's Olivia at the top of the slide)
Rousing game of kickball! Although it was kickball, Anders has his bat just in case it turns into a quick game of b-ball
